Intensive Outpatient Drug Treatment In Indiana

Millions of people across the country are affected by drug addiction. This is a disease that can have devastating physical, mental and psychological consequences. Even worse, these consequences are not limited to the substance abuser as they also affect the person’s family, friends and other loved ones.

If you are struggling with drug addiction or substance use disorder, one of the most important decisions you can make is choosing to receive treatment.

There are several kinds of addiction treatment programs available and you should ensure you choose one that caters to  your unique needs. One of the most common types of addiction treatment programs is the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

This treatment is typically the next step in the recovery process after a person successfully completes a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). It’s a drug recovery program that allows individuals to continue carrying out their daily routines and responsibilities while still progressing through addiction treatment. This type of rehabilitation doesn’t disrupt your life and both recovery and supervision aren’t as intense as those provided in a residential treatment program.

This level of care is ideal for those with mild to moderate substance use disorders and those who for one reason or another, may be unable to go into inpatient rehab treatment.

When you’re admitted to an Intensive Outpatient Program, you’ll be given a treatment plan that has well-articulated, measurable milestones that will indicate your treatment progress. You can also expect to spend anywhere from 6 to 12 months undergoing treatment through attending multiple therapy sessions that last for a few hours each week. The exact duration and treatment therapies offered in an IOP vary from facility to facility.

What to Expect at Evolve Indy’s Intensive Outpatient Program

At Evolve Indy, we’re committed to providing our clients with the best rehab care possible. Our Intensive Outpatient Program is run by highly trained staff who will carefully monitor your progress to ensure that your recovery remains on track.

Prior to admission to our IOP, our Director of Admissions will evaluate you to determine the appropriate course of treatment you should receive before gaining admittance to the program. Once you are admitted, you’ll be expected to adhere to the treatment schedule.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program offers group therapy sessions 6 days per week. These are structured to accommodate those who have other responsibilities at home, work or school. Additionally, during the week, clients are expected to attend 15-25 hours of group therapy to include 1 hour of individual therapy. These therapy sessions occur on-site at the Evolve Indy recovery treatment center in Indiana.

While the program provides in-depth treatment on an outpatient basis, clients have the option of opting for Community Housing. Those who opt for this will share a sober residence with others also receiving treatment at the facility and they’ll be under the supervision of Evolve Indy professionals. Clients will be held to a high standard when living at the community residence.

Furthermore, we encourage our clients to participate in the Sober Living Community that’s part of the treatment program.

Benefits of Intensive Outpatient Programs

One of the major differences between the Intensive Outpatient Program and Inpatient treatment is that clients don’t need to reside at the rehab facility.

IOPs have several benefits including:

  • Flexible hours – some facilities even offer treatment during evening hours to accommodate people who need to go to school or work and those with prior responsibilities.
  • It’s more affordable since you don’t reside at the treatment center.
  • Since clients go back home after their therapy sessions, they can get constant support from their loved ones. This also helps in accountability and reducing the chances of relapse.
  • It’s easy to maintain your normal regular routine when enrolled in an IOP.
  • IOPs provide a higher level of structure than that offered in traditional outpatient care hence increasing the chance of sobriety.

Types of Therapies Offered In Our Intensive Outpatient Drug Treatment Program

Just like in our other drug addiction treatment programs, we offer different types of therapies in our IOP.

  • Individual Therapy.

During individual counseling, clients meet one-on-one with a licensed therapist in a safe and confidential setting. This session gives them a chance to examine the root causes of their addiction, identify their triggers and process what they are going through in their treatment. They also get to address issues they might not be comfortable raising during group therapy.

  • Group Therapy.

This is the cornerstone of our Intensive Outpatient Program. These sessions are led by a therapist or counselor who facilitates discussions that are relevant to drug use and addiction. Group therapy allows clients to get valuable advice and education concerning addiction. It also fosters a positive environment where clients feel accepted and they can receive support and honest feedback from their peers.

  • Behavioral Therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the main form of behavioral therapy used in our treatment program. CBT involves helping clients to identify any negative thought patterns that play a role in their addiction then replacing them with positive ones.

  • Relapse Prevention.

Relapse is quite common when recovering from drug addiction. We do our best to educate and equip our clients with tools to help reduce the chances of relapse. This includes helping them to identify their triggers and also teaching them coping skills that they can implement in their daily routines to achieve long-term sobriety.
